Spring AAU Tryouts for Spartan Teams

Schedule, Team & Coaches information below.


Tryouts Round 1
(Please arrive 15 minutes early for tryouts)

  • 8th Boys: Sunday, Feb 10th @ Spartan Gym. 2-4 PM
  • 6th Girls: Monday, Feb 11th @ Spartan Gym. 5-7pm
  • 7th Girls: Monday, Feb 11th @ Spartan Gym. 7-9pm
  • 3rd/4th Girls: Tuesday, Feb 12th @ SSF Gym. 5-6:30pm
  • 8th Girls: Wednesday, Feb 13th @ Spartan Gym. 5-7pm
  • 5th Girls: Thursday, Feb 14th @ SSF Gym. 5:30-7:30pm

Round 2 (if invited)

  • 6th Girls: Fri, Feb 15th at SSF. 5:15pm
  • 7th Girls: Fri, Feb 15th at SSF. 6:45 PM
  • 8th Girls: Fri, Feb 15th at SSF. 8:00 PM

*Returning players are required to tryout.
**Tryout results will be Emailed out by Monday, February 18th. ***Registration is required by Wednesday Feb. 20th to save spot on team.

Coach Lauren

Coach Lauren, collegiate national champion and operations lead for SSF's basketball committee, is overseeing the implementation of Spartan Basketball's philosophy this Spring. She will be aiding in training coaches, assisting at practices and in games.

3rd and 4th graders are at the youngest levels of eligibility for competitive basketball tournaments. We offer weekly, coed Young Ballers clinics for K-3rd graders and will be hosting teams for 3rd and 4th grade girls this Spring. Various coaches are involved for the teams and trainings.

Season Overview: with details on age-appropriate team formation 

Coach Malcolm was a highly successful point-guard out of Shorecrest HS, setting the single season record for points and assists before playing for Western Oregon University. Malcolm is a coach who is passionate about teaching technique, competitiveness and connecting with players. He is excited to lead our 5th grade girls team into the Spring.

Season Overview 

Coach Nate is a basketball strategist who grew up in the Kings basketball pipeline and has been immersed in sports and education ever since. He is currently pursuing his degree in Educational Studies at UW, is a North Chapter Referees Director at Large, and a bright young basketball coach.

Coach Karlie will be our 6th grade girls coach this Spring.  A collegiate national champion in basketball and an all American in track, Karlie brings a wealth of passion and experience to her coaching style.

Coach Nate is a basketball strategist who grew up in the Kings basketball pipeline and has been immersed in sports and education ever since. He is currently pursuing his degree in Educational Studies at UW, is a North Chapter Referees Director at Large, and a bright young basketball coach. Nate will be leading one of our 7th grade girls teams this Spring.

Coach Keith will return to coach the  7th grade girls after an exciting Fall season with the group. Keith became SSF's executive director after a successful career as a collegiate shooting guard and a decade working in community development.

Coach Caleb is consistently one of the highest rated coaches in the Spartan Program. His passion to develop each player on the team and teach them to play together makes him a favorite among players and parents. Due to the large number of 8th graders in the program, Caleb will be bringing his experience to coach one of the 8th grade teams this Spring.

Coach Keith will return for his 5th season coaching the current 8th grade girls cohort of Spartans. Keith became SSF's executive director after a successful career as a collegiate shooting guard and a decade of being engrossed in the North Seattle basketball culture with organizations such as the Storm, Seattle U, Kings and Shorecrest HS.

Season Overview 

Coach Matt will be back leading the 8th grade boys this Spring. Matt is a natural floor general who has been a starting quarterback and a 4-year starting point guard in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Within weeks of stepping off the HS basketball court, Matt was on his way to forging his leadership skills in the armed services,  becoming a U.S. Marine Corps Corporal and taking two tours in Afghanistan. Now, Matt enjoys taking those experiences and helping young athletes strive to reach their potential.

Matt will be assisted by Malcolm Rosier-Butler.
